EP Review: It Is Well… by Your Spirit Dies

EP Artwork for “It Is Well…” by Your Spirit Dies.

Your Spirit Dies are back with 3-track concept release “It Is Well…” that absolutely does not disappoint. Having worked with Randy LeBouef (who has the likes of Orthodox & The Acacia Strain as previous clients) to create a super well polished follow up to 2025’s “My Gnawing Pains Will Never Rest”. If you’re a fan of Chamber, Dying Wish & Boundaries and haven’t checked out Your Spirit Dies yet, this is the perfect showcase of the band, who are fresh off their tour with Thrown, mugshot & Vomit Forth.

The tone for the 3 tracks is set from the very first bar of the opening track Starless with an almost instant wall of blast beats and vocalist Brandon Byers’ trademark vocals. Both tracks are intersected by a darkly angelic 1 minute interlude that allows you to catch your breath before the next barrage of breakdowns and mosh parts. The tracks feel huge with LeBouef's influence adding a huge amount of production value to an already insane set of instrumentals that leaves you wanting more than the two full tracks on the release.

The EP’s concept flirts with very religious undertones, with almost orchestral outros and lyrics that touch upon themes of an end of the world idea. It’s rare to see bands step out their comfort zone & do concept EPs, and it’s even rarer to see them land as impactful & well done as this. Think The Devil Wears Prada’s “Zombie” EP on steroids and you’re almost there.

FFO: Chamber, Dying Wish, Boundaries

SCORE: 8/10
