The xNECESSARYDEMISEx Demo comes closely following their impressionable set supporting A Mourning Star & Crowquill at Lost Ark in Liverpool. The next generation of hardcore is put into the hands of Manchester youths, whose style and worship of h8000s style metalcore is surging the direction of current UKHC. Pulling inspiration from the likes of Converge and Norma Jean, xNECESSARYDEMISEx focuses heavily on the aggressive & gritty reality of being straight edge and the environmental impact of veganism.
YOUR DEMISE IS ALL I EVER HOPED FOR has some familiar sounding blend of metallic and melodic sounding riffs, reminiscent of early sounding Bring Me The Horizon following more death metal style vocals. While it is refreshing to see a new generation of bands grabbing on the coattails of those before them, what makes xNECESSARYDEMISEx different is the blatant intensity that they have in regards to lyricism. As previously mentioned, a huge part of this Demo and the band's existence is the passion and drive with being straight edge, nostalgic of Arkangel. Drawing heavy influence from the reality of drugs being used as a method of control and that people will follow what they’ve been told so blindly.
Knowing everybody in this band are all teenagers feels that we are heading in the right direction, musically and societally. Although accompanied with heavier tones, the presence of environmental issues with very real concerns presenting within them is what makes this Demo feel so alive and not just a ‘we put this out because we want to make music’ type of feeling. If this is the level of what new wave straight edge bands are like, we should be excited about what’s to come next. The kids are alright and we should step back and let them pave the way for the future, it’s in good hands.
